Life as usual

I realize that I stopped blogging about the same time I discovered pinterest. I want to keep a blog, it's basically my only journal, unless I can figure out how to put facebook statuses together to form a sort of "stream of consciousness" journal. We are still in Logan and loving it. Our ward boundaries just got realigned, that's been hard. When we moved here I knew that if I wanted to be happy I had to get to know people. I feel super awkward when I talk to people I don't know, but really, who doesn't? I realized I didn't have any family up here, my parents were on a mission, which for some reason seemed so long, and they felt so far away. So I really put a lot of effort into making friends. I went to every church activity, every neighborhood bbq or craft day, and I have met some of the best people in the world. I have also been able to keep in touch with my bffs from Clinton, so it's worked out well. Anyway, I know now that I can do it, I can put myself out there and get to know people.
Garrett's job is different than we pictured it. Since he is a stand alone manager, it's hard for him to get away, and I don't mean for a vacation, whatever that is. I mean, he is constantly on call and has to spend a lot of time there. I'm thankful for his job. I just remember thinking how much more time we would spend together when we moved here and I've discovered that there's always something going on, and you have to make what you want to happen happen.
Gracie is...now this is hard for me to say...in middle school! How is it possible that I have a child with a locker? She is loving her school and is quite a good student. She is taking orchestra this year and is playing the cello.
Kestlie is a fourth grader. She is a talented artist and very good at writing. I didn't know this until I went to parent teacher conference but she is off the charts in reading fluency. That's my girl. She is constantly in motion, cartwheels are the norm for her.
Sophie is still our firecracker. She is hilarious and sweet. She is in second grade and loves her teacher. She is also doing well in school. I feel so blessed to have these girls.
I'm a reading aide at the girls school, I still like my job. I also teach dance Tuesdays and Fridays. I love it, I also feel blessed that dance is still a part of my life.
Everything is just same old stuff, which is just fine with me. Someday I'll post pics of our house, now that I have a camera!! I might start blogging more.

Jackson and Yellowstone

We kind of got to take a vacation! Ok, so the girls and I totally got a vacation, Garrett, however, went to Jackson for work. We tagged along, and FedEx set us up at a really nice place in the Snow King Resort. The girls squealed in delight for what seemed like an hour at every discovery they made..."Mom there's are two fireplaces!"..."Mom, there are two laundry rooms!"..."Mom, this bed comes out of the wall!"..."Mom, there are three bathtubs, and one of them has jets!"... I'll admit that last one made me squeal a little in delight myself.

It was a pretty low key vacation, but one of the best. We did things simple things like: we played at the park, made art projects, went for walks by the ski lifts, had a picnic, sat by the fire and drank hot cocoa, and of course walked around the downtown area. There was even a heated pool so we got to go swimming.

There are a lot of sculptures, many of bears, around town in Jackson. The girls do love a good photo op, so we spent quite a bit of time posing and, their new favorite, jumping.

I think I'll post more about Yellowstone and all the bear sculptures we saw later, this is getting a bit long.
